I’m R.M. — A Technical Solutions Architect with 25 years in the trenches.
I started my career racking physical servers and managing switches for law firms. Today, I architect hybrid cloud environments for enterprise scale. The tools have changed (from physical SANs to Nutanix/AWS), but the job is the same: Making complex systems work in production.
Why Rack2Cloud Exists?
I built this site to document the engineering reality that marketing whitepapers ignore. I don’t care about “digital transformation” buzzwords. I care about:
- Migration Mechanics: Moving workloads from VMware to Nutanix without losing data.
- Repatriation: The actual math and architecture of moving AI workloads back on-prem.
- Resilience: Building 3-2-1 backup strategies that actually survive a ransomware attack.
Tools & Projects:
I build tools to solve my own problems. I’ve open-sourced them here for the community:
- HCI Migration Advisor: A framework to audit hardware compatibility and licensing costs when moving from Broadcom/VMware to Nutanix AHV.
- Infrastructure Auditing: Custom Terraform/OpenTofu drift detection scripts I use to keep production environments clean.
- Serverless AI: Documenting my work on sub-500ms cold starts for Llama 3.2 on AWS Lambda.
My Standard:
Verified in the Lab I don’t publish theory.
- Functional Validation: If I write a script, I ran it against live infrastructure first.
- Audit First: I check for version drift and breaking changes before recommending a path.
Certifications (Because Enterprises Still Care):
- Nutanix Platform Professional (NPP)
- VMware Certified Associate – Data Center Virtualization
- Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals
- AWS Lambda & Serverless Specialist
